Formlabs is a world-class manufacturer of resin 3D printers working on the basis of SLA technology. Formlabs engineers developed a new version of the SLA technology to achieve even better results in printing with photopolymer resins. Formlabs Form 3+ 3D printer uses LFS (Low Force Stereolithography ™) technology, which guarantees even higher precision of production with increased printing speed. Reducing the laser spot to 85 micrometers allows for unrivaled accuracy of mapping each detail.
Formlabs Form 3+ is a resin 3D printer working in Low Force Stereolithography (LFS) ™ technology with a working area of 145 x 145 x 185 mm. The printer is equipped with the new Build Platform v2, which facilitates and speeds up the 3D printing process. A flexible cap allows you to remove prints in seconds, without the need for tools.
The new build platform not only shortens the post-processing process, but also reduces the risk of damaging the model when manually tearing the printed model off the build plate. In addition, the printer has an improved optical system that controls a laser beam with a size of 85 micrometers. The printing technology used by Form 3+ allows printing with much greater precision than compared to other SLA 3D printers.
Formlabs Form 3+ is equipped with a touch screen that allows easy and efficient control of the device. Its small dimensions of 405 x 375 x 530mm and quiet operation allow you to make prints anywhere, without the need for special room conditions. The intuitive PreForm software is attached to the device.
A 3D printer working in the SLA / LFS Formlabs Form 3+ technology requires appropriate peripheral devices to work with printouts. Form Wash and Form Cure are intelligent devices for post-processing and processing of models printed in SLA / LFS technology on Form 3L and Form 3BL 3D printers.
Form Wash is a washer for rinsing models from uncured resin residues after printing. Thanks to a special holder, we can mount models for cleaning without removing them from the work table. It is enough to insert a worktable with a printout or place the model directly in the basket. The built-in impeller circulates the isopropyl alcohol (IPA), which guarantees effective and efficient rinsing of the remaining material in every detail. After finishing work, the device will automatically take out the model from the IPA, thus reducing the risk of damaging the finished print.
Form Cure is a station for exposure and curing of prints. Form Cure L was developed for fully automatic operation. All you need to do is select the predefined settings for a specific resin on the touch screen, insert the model and turn on the device. Form Cure will select the working time and temperature itself to obtain the best print properties. You can also make your own settings as needed.
The printer software supports models designed in any CAD software. To print a model - just generate a file in STL or OBJ format and upload it to the PreForm software. The program will automatically check the correctness of the file and propose ready-made settings, thanks to which the process of preparing for printing will take up to a few minutes. PreForm has been integrated with the most popular CAD programs to facilitate the 3D modeling process. The software has a simple and convenient interface that guides the user through the entire process of model optimization using advanced algorithms responsible for the appropriate orientation of the model, setting of supports and selection of printing parameters. At the same time - at every stage of printing - the operator has the possibility to fully influence the previously entered settings.
Adaptive layer thickness for 3D Form 3 / Form 3B printers is a setting that balances speed and print quality. When PreForm detects curves, bevels and other features in the model geometry that must be printed in the lower layer, it will automatically adjust the printing parameters. When the software detects walls, columns and other vertical elements that can be printed in one large piece, it will automatically increase the layer height.
PreForm flows smoothly from one layer to the next, which makes sudden jumps in thickness imperceptible. This way, the printing time is reduced without sacrificing resolution quality. This is one of the unique features of Formlabs, which has a direct impact on the printing speed while maintaining the highest surface quality available on the market.
