The traditional way of making a duplicate of a statue is very tedious: carving from scratch by hand, trying to keep the proportions as close as possible to the original. However, with the use of 21st century technology, we can simplify it with a 3D scanner. So how did such a process look like in one of the studios?

Scanning was done from top to bottom. First, the back of the head and shoulders were scanned, moving down. Scanning was continuous, and after reaching the bottom of the statue, the statue was rotated on the turntable that came with the Calibra scanner. The rotary table has a capacity of 200 kg, so there was no problem with its functionality.

Całkowite skanowanie trwało 7 minut, a końcowe 15 minut.
